SaxRixParticipantHey guys, If you’re new to grading, here are some great VISUAL sources I have found which will aid you in learning this art form. They aren’t free but they are seriously the best resources I have found on this topic. If you know of any other resources on grading, please comment below & I’ll add it to the list
🙂 First and foremost, before getting any videos tutorials etc, I highly recommend this book:
, it is known as THE book on colour grading!Color Correction HandbookFXPHD Also has a bunch of courses on color grading & color theory. I’ve listed a couple of them below (courtesy of jqshen)
FXPHD – Resolve 11 FundamentalsFXPHD – The Craft Of Color Grading IFXPHD – The Craft Of Color Grading IIFXPHD – Camera Tech and Colour ScienceFXPHD – Introduction To Digital Color TheoryI also recommend using DaVinci Resolve to do your grading as it is the most complete grading package out there. If you don’t have it, they even have a FREE version which has no real limitations other than no noise reduction, no stereoscopic grading, and max resolution of UHD. For more info on the differences between Lite vs paid version, click

jqshenParticipantMight I also add that fxphd has a Resolve 11 course as well, taught by colorist Warren Eagles of International Colorist Academy, he’s been doing Davinci Resolve courses with fxphd since 2007.

SaxRixParticipantUpdate: added a link to the ‘color correction handbook’.October 30, 2014 at 8:07 pm #857
KineMarcoParticipantGreat resources. If i want to improve my basic knowledge what course will you suggest me? The color grading central is a good place with good tutorials? Or is better to read the handbook of color correction?
Thank you guys!

Hey Marco! For the theory I suggest the handbook (a necessity in my opinion), and while I do like the ColorGradingCentral tutorials, I really recommend the training from rippletraining, its taught by the same guy that wrote the handbook (he also literally wrote the DaVinci Resolve manual), so he definitely knows his stuff! Basically, get anything by Alexis Van Hurkman, and you’re onto a winner (IMHO!). 😀
