Kinehancer Lens Compatibility

I remember a while ago I saw a post about certain lenses not working with the Kinehancer due to the back element hitting the Kinehancer element when focused to infinity.

I’m using a set of AE Contax Zeiss lenses adapted to EF 0n my Terra 4k and so far can confirm that the following lenses do work.
    Contax Zeiss 25mm f2.8
    Contax Zeiss 50mm f1.4
    Contax Zeiss 85mm f1.4

However, the Contax Zeiss 35mm f1.4 does not work, it stops just before infinity focus.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative lens that I could use in place of my 35mm f1.4 that maintains a similar low contrast look to my AE contax set? Super bummed that I have to break the set for the sake of the 35mm but it is one of the most common focal lengths that I use.
I was thinking of looking at the 35mm f2.8 contax zeiss but I was hoping to keep a f1.4 option if possible.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi Craig, I own the 35mm f2.8 MMJ and I think it is a fine lens, if you like your 25mm f2.8 then you will like the 35mm f2.8 as I find them to have similar aesthetics just different focal length obviously. Of course, would not be like your trusty 35mm f1.4 just like the 25mm f2.8 will never be like the 28mm f2.0 (Hollywood). Cheers!

Thanks Gualbert, I appreciate the input.
I might see if I can track down a 35mm f2.8 to try.
Sounds like the best trade off to keep the look consistent.
Now if only I could find a wide angle option haha.

Wide angle I have the CONTAX Zeiss Distagon 18mm f4.0 but unfortunately can’t really recommend it as an “investment”. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is a good lens but hard to justify the price tag given the fact it is “uneventful” in terms of performance. But it keeps on the same line and looks (color/contrast) as the rest of the CONTAX Zeiss lenses though. I heard the 15mm f3.5 is a beast but it costs around $1,500 on eBay if you have that amount of cash…
