Do you have the most recent Firmware update KineOS 4.0? that is where they brought back the custom LUT capability that they took out for a while on previous firmwares.
Also I had a problem updating my firmware a while back due to the wrong kind of USB thumb drive (I guess it was too big) maybe try another thumb drive that is smaller- I…[Read more]
Which firmware are you using?
The out of sync issue is an older problem that seemed to have been fixed with a firmware update months ago…
Regarding your project FPS problem… make sure that you set “project FPS” in the menu to 23.976, which will set any frame rate to play back in your NLE as the project FPS(in this case 23.976)
Hope this helped

The ACR(Adobe Camera Raw) workflow has limited LUT support, so only if you shoot DNG directly from the camera will you have similar results to the PP(picture profile) from what you saw in the camera… So if you shoot KRW it seems that the Metadata does not transfer over to the DNG, so what you will get is a standard PP from ACR. But…[Read more]

Here’s a thought if you haven’t seen the practicality behind Cineform(which there is unfortunately not a lot of info out there about it)
Whether or not you are using Avid, FinalCut or Premiere(or any other NLE for that matter) CIneform is what Kinefinity chose for the simple reason of Active Metadata…
I had a hard time understanding this and…[Read more]
You can either delete single clips by pushing the play button and choosing the clip and pushing the control wheel up once to chose delete, or you can format the whole card in camera by pushing the control wheel twice choosing to DEACTIVATE card–after deactivation, click the control wheel again twice to REBUILD card–after rebuild, click control…[Read more]
If you are running off of battery grip then you may find that it can be fidgety.
I had some issues with my battery grip and the camera not recognizing it or something… I can not explain the DC power cable not working with the camera though.
But again, if it is the battery grip then you should try placing in the grip and without screwing in the…[Read more]
You can also use Adobe Bridge on both Mac and PC to find and sort easily:
-open adobe bride
-select folder or drive that has the individual clip folders
-click “View” tab, scroll down to “Show Items from Subfolders”
-lastly, on the upper right hand corner, underneath the search bar, select “Sort by ….” and select “Sort by Type”
Its really easy
I heard others say that they had some pretty bad rolling shutter in 4K, and they had apperently found that 2K had more pleasing results regarding the jello.
I personally try to avoid shaky shots and rarely go handheld/documentary style.
If your doing a fast whip pan, you should probably try the sports mode despite the loss in quality and…[Read more]
It looks like quite the mystery to me…
I would probably try and recreate the problem and see if it happens again, checking how many frames are unaccounted for and probably rely on an external audio recorder for safety(personally I don’t really trust the pre-amps on the KineMINI)
If you have checked the slate info and everything matches and…[Read more]
Hey again Erwan,
I have had that problem in the past with DSLR audio sync… if its the same problem and the audio goes out of sync gradually and notice obvious difference after 5 min or so, then it could be the sample rate of the audio which should always be at 48K… which sometimes it was left on 44.1K, which is the other main setting on my…[Read more]
The KRW file(non high-speed mode) is a DNG file compressed around 3 times (3 times smaller than the original DNG) that at any time can be uncompressed to DNG without any information loss- Hens the term lossless compression.
You always start by taking the KRWs and compressing them to CineForm RAW and editing with them(if thats your preference)-But…[Read more]
I have found that encoding to RGB 444 is slightly heavier on my NLE… I’m not sure if it has a harder time with the live metadata than the CineForm RAW, it just seems slower(maybe others have experienced this)
Either way, you retain quite a bit more info in the CineForm RAW codec without the hassle of DNGs, and if you want to keep the option…[Read more]
I believe that it is the K connector… the closest version that I have seen, but has not yet been confirmed is this one:
You could try the new kinestation V0.7
According to the report that newsshooter did at the BIRTV, its not the camera that can’t handle the Cineform 4K its the Cineform codec that is not advanced enough to handle it yet…
I too have been refreshing my google search daily for about 5 months. I should have mine in the next couple of weeks.
Regarding ssd’s, I recently bought a superSspeed 128gb slc from amazon( they are currently out) but either I fried it with a poor sata cable, or it was dead on arrival… Fortunately the company-mydigitaldiscount said that they…[Read more]
What would you say would be the best Cineform workflow(programs and such).
I tried effortlessly to get it working with Resolve 10, 11 and still cannot access the RAW data…Am I doing something wrong? If I use speed grade, can I still access similar RAW data like DNGs in Resolve or what?

I was surprised to see how much noise the Red Epic has compared to the KineMINI in low light.
